Sourced from Tunisia, Harissa is a spicy North African seasoning of brick red color primarily of roasted red peppers, dried chili peppers, and other seasonings. Known as the ‘Sriracha of the Middle East’ harissa has a complex flavor profile, spicy and slightly smoky. It is excellent as a barbecue marinade, or baked into flatbreads or couscous to add a kick, or sprinkle over falafels to spice up the dish. Replace sriracha with harissa to get a more African volume in your recipes.
